Cladding

Since 101 Industries’ beginning in 1968, Cladding has always been a big part of the company. Our cladding department is closely tied to our sheetmetal and HVAC department which is described separately.

Safety of our crews is a core value at 101 Industries. All field crews are lead by very experienced cladding foremen skilled in best trade practices for cladding installation. The majority of the work performed by our cladding crews is at elevation. Due to the hazardous nature of this type of work, we have a very stringent training and safety program for the crew members. In addition to our standard training, we start all of our cladding projects with a Job Specific Safe Work Plan. The plan is developed with our senior management, crew foreman, and customer to ensure all potential risks are detailed and a safe action plan is established. Once the plan is agreed, it is then reviewed with all members of the crew. At 101 Industries we insist all managers, supervisors, and workers take an active roll in safety, personal protection and environmental protection.

The cladding crews are skilled in metal building siding and horizontal decking installation. The wall cladding systems most common are single skin, insulation sandwich wall, and composite panel – utilizing metal, FRP, or stainless steel. Structural decking installation is common in 1 ½” deep and 3” deep galvanized or stainless steel. Fastening techniques can be either screwed, powder actuated pin fastened or welded.

Asbestos abatement and transite panel removal is also work that our cladding department performs on a regular basis. It is often a requirement of our industrial projects to remove moderate hazard transite asbestos panels to allow for new building penetrations. When this is done, the openings in the wall are later closed in with metal or FRP cladding to suit.

To ensure our crews are safe and efficient we have a vast fleet of mobile equipment consisting of 3 manlifts (60 to 80 feet), 4 scissor lifts, 5 forklifts, 6 flat decks, a boom truck and transport trailers. The cladding crews also work safely and efficiently from swing stages or scaffolds.

Our fabrication shop is fully stocked with modern, automated equipment to safely and efficiently produce custom flashings, gutters, and siding accessories. All flashings and accessories are made to RCABC standards or the customer’s own specifications.

Of course the cladding department is supported by the other departments that 101 Industries offers. When the job requires fall protection anchors, roof penetrations, custom fabrications, or heavy rigging, we have the skilled people to offer the proper service in these areas. All of our departments are staffed with ticketed journeymen with BC trades qualifications. Having the right person for the job is the basis of our motto “Quality through Craftsmanship”.
