During the past 4 decades of business, 101 has been able to grow and offer services to industrial, commercial and residential customers in and around the Kitimat area. Traditionally, we have been known for our heavy sheet metal background, which has always been a big part of the company. 101 Industries has now become an industrial specialist while still offering construction and service in the commercial and residential markets.

Piping and Plumbing

Industrial piping and plumbing has always been a part of 101 Industries. Over the years we have been able to gain experience in various areas of the piping business.
Our crews have been thoroughly trained to work safely to exceed WCB standards. Each crew is lead by experienced journeymen who are fully knowledgeable of the quality and customer service 101 Industries provides for its customers.
101 is involved in both industrial piping and plumbing and waterworks. Our skilled piping crew includes experienced welders who are currently certified for multitudes of GMAW, SMAW and GTAW processes.
Our industrial work is done to ASME standards and we are a Class A Boiler contractor registered with the BC Boilers branch.
The plumbing department is regularly involved with typical plumbing work. 101 has extensive experience in copper, aluminum and steel victaulic and threaded piping. We do field as well as shop grooving and threading of these types of pipe and stock many fittings.

Sheet metal and Cladding

101 Industries has been synonymous with cladding and sheet metal work for over 30 years in Kitimat. We offer design, fabrication and installation services for any industrial or commercial requirement.
Our crews have been thoroughly trained to work safely to exceed WCB standards and Alcan’s’ stringent safety policies. Each crew is again, lead by experienced journeymen. We safely inspect all of our rigging and aerial lift equipment before it goes to site. 101’s shop facility is ideally designed to allow us to efficiently produce custom flashings to suit any project. We generally measure each area and custom create the best flashing to provide maximum weather protection, fit and finish.
Our sheet metal shop is set up for full duct fabrication from standard galvanized to stainless steel and aluminum. All work is performed to the customer’s specifications or SMACNA standards. 101 Industries offers full design services to our customer for any ducting or ventilation project. Office HVAC design, duct sizing, fan calculations, layout drawings, heating and cooling loads can all be produced in house.

Machining, Metal Working, and Millwrighting

101 Industries has full machine shop capabilities. Our lead machinist has extensive experience in all aspects of the machining trade including machine tooling, metal-working, machining and installation of rotating equipment in pulp mills, sawmills, petro-chemical facilities and aluminum smelters as well as heavy equipment and material conveyance equipment. He lends direction to the rest of the shop and field crews and supervises any machining or millwrighting work undertaken by 101 Industries.
Turning Equipment: Our turning equipment consists of the following: A Titan Lathe, 157” between centres, 32” swing over ways, 40”over gap. This to our knowledge is the largest lathe in the area. A.D.S.G. Lathe 32” between centers 14” swing. These lathes are ideal for turning, boring, facing, grooving, threading, tapering, reaming and line boring.
Milling Equipment: We have a Mechanicy Universal Milling Machine, c/w a 78” X 16” table and 42” over arm. This machine is highly versatile and capable of facing, boring, slotting, gang milling, tapering, angle milling and line boring.
Drilling: Our drilling equipment consists of a Summit 6’-14 ½ Radial arm drill press ideal for various processes including drilling, boring, spot facing, tapping and reaming.
Tooling: We have a full complement of tooling and measuring equipment as required for any project
Laser Alignment: 101 has laser alignment equipment for use on rotating equipment. Our field millwrights are trained in the proper use of this equipment and hard copy print outs are supplied to the customer for each piece of equipment that is aligned

Structural Steel and Fabrication

101 Industries has full structural steel fabrication and installation capabilities. We have over 4000 square feet of shop floor space utilized for fabrication. As well, we have a 60-foot boom truck and 20 foot, 5-ton flat deck for transportation and erection.
Our fabrication shop has a full complement of fabrication tools and equipment including a 10 ton overhead crane, 175 ton press brake, ¼” plate shear, 75 ton ironworker, 6’ radical arm drill press and a complete machine shop facility. We have a full complement of welding, cutting, burning and abrasive equipment. We also utilize ventilation systems and fume extractors to ensure a clean, safe and productive environment for our employees.
101’s shop crews are interactive with the estimating, design and installation crews to ensure our customers receive the high level of quality they service and they expect from us. As well all of our crews participate in the 101 Industries Health and Safety Program and any upgrade or refresher courses that are available.
Our field crews are highly skilled tradesmen fully versed in the requirements of the 101 Industries Health and Safety program and in the up to date W.C.B. regulations. We insist that all our employees understand the safety aspects of any job we undertake and as such provide hazard awareness on all projects.

Flat Roofing

101 Industries has a full flat roofing department. In addition to applying new systems we also offer full renovation services including tear off and remedial repairs. After a roofing project is complete we supply and install custom manufactured sheet metal flashings to ensure the highest quality finished project. We specialize in SBS 2-ply membrane systems, fully torched or adhesive applied. As well, we’ve offered extended warranties to suit our customer’s needs when requested.
Our crews have been trained by factory representatives to apply Icopal/Siplast products and we are only one of a few contractors in the BC northwest who are approved applicators of this product. Icopal/Siplast is known in the industry to be preferred product with longer life spans and better engineering than their competitors. It is through our close relationship with our key supplier, Icopal/Siplast, that we are able to guarantee the success and customer satisfaction on all of our projects.
Our field crews are highly skilled trades men fully versed in the requirements of the 101 Industries Health and Safety Program and in the new W.C.B. regulations. We insist that all our employees understand the safety aspects of any job we undertake and such provide hazard awareness on all projects.
Of course the flat roofing department is supported by the other departments when the job requires new roof drains, structural repairs, decking repair or replacement, and sheet metal work.
